When your job is to promote family fun and good times that can be shared and cherished, to provide an atmosphere where people can bond with those they love and care about most… a heartfelt letter like this one we recently received can be the most reaffirming and touching reminder of why it is we do what we do.
“I decided to go to iPlay America on Nov. 18 for my birthday – despite the fact that I was turning 33.”
Very sadly, my grandfather passed away on July 1. He had been declining the past couple years so we wanted to do something special for his birthday this past January. Since his celebration always included brunch, my sisters and I decided iPlay America would be the perfect place for him to eat and play some arcade games like did when he was feeling better. However, because of a rain/ice storm that weekend, we didn’t feel comfortable taking him out in the weather. Since I was very, very close with my grandfather, I wanted to have my birthday dinner at iPlay in tribute to him.

Another reason I chose the Game Time Bar & Grill is because I am a huge fan of “Food Network.” I read an article about Chef Joseph Raiola in The News Transcript and was looking forward to trying the menu. Luckily for me, Chef Raiola was at the restaurant that night and was gracious enough to meet my family and me. The pretzel-crusted meatballs, fried calamari and truffle fries were delicious, as were each of our entrees, which included homemade gnocchi, burgers and salmon. Chef Raiola even sent out S’Mores for dessert. I asked the chef to sign the specials menu since the date of my birthday was listed on there, which he kindly did.

Afterward, we went into the arcade for a little while and played my grandfather’s favorite games, like Skee Ball and Wheel of Fortune. It was very sad not to have him with us, but the experience at iPlay America made the day memorable in his absence.
There really is something special about iPlay America. I don’t care that I am an adult. The food was great and I love the atmosphere. I have been to concerts in the Event Center before, but now I will definitely frequent the restaurant and bar more. Thank you to Chef Raiola and iPlay America overall for a great night!
